At Lumberjack Light Demolition & Dumpster Rental, we make waste disposal easy, efficient, and affordable. However, due to strict federal, state, and local Illinois landfill regulations, there are certain materials we legally cannot transport or dispose of.
To help you avoid unexpected sorting fees or delayed pickups, please review our comprehensive guide of prohibited dumpster items before loading your trailer.
If any of the following items are found in your rented trailer dumpster, they will need to be removed prior to haul-away, or they may result in additional environmental disposal fees.
Any substances that pose a health, safety, or fire risk to our crew and local disposal facilities are strictly prohibited:
Hazardous Chemicals: Pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, pool chemicals, solvents, and chemical cleaners.
Asbestos: Any insulation, siding, or tiling materials containing asbestos.
Propane Tanks & Cylinders: Empty or full tanks, fire extinguishers, and pressurized gas canisters.
Landfills cannot accept free-flowing liquids because they can contaminate local groundwater.
Paint & Stains: Wet paint, lacquers, wood stains, and thinners. (Note: Completely dried-out latex paint cans with the lids off are typically accepted).
Oil of Any Type: Motor oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, hydraulic oil, and bulk cooking oils.
Automotive Fluids: Antifreeze, gasoline, diesel fuel, and kerosene.
Illinois law strictly bans electronics from entering landfills. These items must be taken to specialized recycling centers:
Televisions & Monitors: All CRT, LCD, and plasma screens.
Computers & Peripherals: Desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, scanners, and keyboards.
Appliances with Freon: Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers (unless certified that the Freon has been professionally drained).
Tires: Car, truck, and equipment tires cannot be mixed with general debris.
Car Batteries: Lead-acid batteries contain corrosive chemicals and must be recycled separately.
⚠️ Important Reminder on Extra Fees: Landfills charge massive penalty fees when hazardous materials or e-waste are found hidden in general debris. To keep our rental prices low for everyone, any costs incurred from unaccepted items will be passed directly back to the customer.
